Environmental Load Lock and ESD Safe Probe

Two new accessories are now available for the Physical Property Measurement Systems (PPMS) from Quantum Design, designed to enhance sample protection and measurement reliability: the Environmental Load Lock and the ESD Safe Probe. These innovations further extend the versatility of the PPMS platforms for advanced materials research and sensitive sample handling.

Environmental Load Lock

Protect your environmentally sensitive samples with the new Environmental Load Lock, compatible with all Quantum Design PPMS platforms. Mount your sample onto any of our standard pucks and then load it into Environmental Load Lock all within your glove box. Then safely transfer your protected sample into the system without exposure to atmosphere.

This is particularly valuable for air-sensitive materials such as battery components, quantum materials, and reactive thin films. The Environmental Load Lock ensures a seamless workflow between preparation and measurement, improving both reproducibility and experimental confidence.

FEATURES:

  • Compatible with all Quantum Design PPMS platforms
  • Compatible with standard Quantum Design sample picks, maximum total height of 50 mm
  • Intuitive and easy-to-use compatibility with cryostat.

ESD Safe Probe

The ESD Safe Probe provides complete electrostatic discharge protection for delicate and high-value samples. It includes a low-profile grounded mounting board for secure sample wiring, along with a grounded transfer board that enables safe loading of chip carrier assemblies into the probe. A BNC breakout box ensures reliable grounding and connectivity to external electronics, reducing the risk of damage during setup and measurement.

In addition, the rotating sample mount allows for both in-plane and out-of-plane applied magnetic fields, enabling more flexible experimental configurations and expanded measurement capabilities.

FEATURES:

  • 2.5 K – 400 K
  • 16 twisted pairs of manganin wire for connection to the 32-pin chip carrier assembly
  • 7.5 mm x 8.5 mm in sample space

Together, these new PPMS options provide enhanced environmental control and electrical protection, supporting more robust and reliable measurements across a wide range of advanced research applications.
