2025: A Year in Review at QD-UKI
2025 has been a busy and exciting year for QD-UKI — here’s a summary of some of the key developments, product launches and company milestones from the past 12 months:
Magneto-Optics Conference at NPL
One of the biggest highlights of the year has to be the Magneto-Optics in Quantum Light and Matter Conference co-hosted by Quantum Design and the National Physical Laboratory. It featured as part of UNESCO’s International Year of Quantum official calendar. You can read all about it and see pictures and feedback from participants here:
- New leadership at QD-UKI. The company welcomed new regional leadership in November, marking a fresh chapter in growth and strategic direction.
- Innovative product launches. Among the new offerings:
- InfraTec’s ImageIR® 9800, a high-resolution, cooled long-wave infrared camera — delivering advanced thermal imaging capabilities for research.
- EuQlid’s Quantum Diamond Microscope, the first system to combine the sensitivity of NV-centre based measurement technology with a wide-field microscope.
- Expanded applications and case studies. From electron microscopy breakthroughs (e.g. using FusionScope) to cutting-edge soft-tissue chemical imaging in biological research, QD-UKI broadened its footprint across multiple scientific fields.
- Industry recognition & outreach. QD-UKI featured in the 2025 edition of Irish Manufacturing Magazine, showcasing how advanced characterisation tools are supporting evolving pharmaceutical and industrial research in Ireland.

Looking Ahead: What to Expect in 2026
As we close out 2025, QD-UKI is poised for further growth: new leadership and new technologies equals an exciting roadmap ahead. We anticipate expanded product lines, deeper collaboration across research communities in the UK & Ireland, and continued support for cutting-edge science — especially in fields like cryogenics, microscopy, magnetometry and non-destructive testing.
